Muslims treated like Jews?

This video is very striking! I found it while doing some research on my special project, and would like to hear my classmates' opinions on this.
I think the comaprison is rather extreme and to a certain extend appropriate ?

  1. Wow that is a very interesting video! I was surprised how the Imam seemed to suggest that America is almost "using" 9/11 to spread anti-Islamist attitudes. I never really thought of it in this way. Another interesting part was his comment that Osama bin Laden was "their [the United State's] employee" implying the US had more of a connection/responsibility with him than the general American Islamic community does. I think his argument might have been stronger if he explicitly connected the concentration camps to Guantanomo Bay and the various other CIA secret prisons.

  2. First, i think Imam is being a litter irrational when he makes the comparison with Muslims living in America and the Jews in the 1930's-40's under Nazi rule. Like the host of the show said, you don't see any Muslims being carted off to concentration camps or labeled with patches to distinguish their personal characteristics from one another. I understand that this man has faced multiple forms of harassment that is unacceptable by all means, but to make a comparison like that is just foolish. I can't imagine being a Muslim and facing these issues on a daily basis (being picked at "random" for an airport search, vandalism of their place of worship, and the racial slurs being shouted). I do agree with Imam when he spoke on the liberties of Americans becoming less and less. The laws that were passed after 9/11, Patriot Act and the Homeland Security Act, i believe truly do diminish our liberties from a privacy aspect to conducting acts against other humans that go agains the Geneva Convention. Moreover, if our political leaders keep passing these laws without even taking a glance at them before signing the bill, there will soon be no liberties at all for us, thus the downfall of our constitutional ways.
