How Far?

How far will the U.S. government try to push their abilities to ignore human rights? From unchecked torture to the desecration of the constitution, The government of our country at this time does not seem to realize or quite frankly does not seem to care what its citizens say as they continue to press on for more lee way to spy on and infiltrate your personal life. The government recently gave itself the ability to police the internet. Add this to the fact that our leaders at this time are placing more regulations and red tape that may or may not be allowed in the constitution and do not seem to have shown any signs of slowing down. What can be done? Do the people need to hold the people in power more responsible? only time will tell.

  1. I have always been a firm believer in the fact that if you aren’t doing anything wrong, why does it matter who’s watching? You are completely right the things that you do in your personal life should not been monitored however there have been a select few in and out of our country’s borders who have taken advantage of our freedom. Citizens try to hack government computer systems every minute. (This will be a touchy subject especially on a college campus) People order fake ID’s everyday from China (probably funding our demise).

When you become a convicted felon you basically give up all rights of privacy. So, why should that be any different for people committing illegal acts on the internet? The internet makes it easy to create a second life. If you can create someone out of thin air and ransack the internet with ID theft as someone who doesn’t exist; then I say it’s a good thing someone (government) is at least trying to monitor it.

People have said in class that they are afraid the government can come and pick them up randomly and torture them if they want. True to an extent. However, the CIA, FBI and military is set in place to defend the American public. Believe it or not most people in the positions to “illegally torture,” took the position because they want to defend their country and its citizens (you and me). They have the power to do these things so when a criminal figures out how to jump through a hoop; they can stop him/her.
